PSG Overcomes Olympique de Marseille via Spot-Kicks to Lift Trophee des Champions Super Cup in Kuwait.

Trophy celebration scene

The Parisian club has now secured the season-opening cup on 14 separate occasions.

The Parisian giants needed a dramatic leveler followed by a successful penalty shootout to get past Marseille in Kuwait and capture a record-extending fourth consecutive French Super Cup title.

The European champions seemed to be coasting towards a comfortable triumph in the showdown featuring the Ligue 1 winners and the Coupe de France winners after Ousmane Dembele found the scoring in the opening stages.

However, Marseille fired twice late to take a surprise lead. Initially, the English forward scored from the penalty spot, before the defender unfortunately directed the ball into his own net for an own goal.

In a breathtaking turn of fortune, Goncalo Ramos snatched a vital equaliser in the final seconds to send the match into a deciding shootout. PSG goalkeeper Chevalier then stood as the hero, saving crucial attempts from O'Riley and Hamed Traore.

In the shootout, Goncalo Ramos, the midfielder, the full-back, and Desire Doue all converted successfully for PSG to complete a convincing shootout win.

The record winners PSG, who faced last season's Ligue 1 runners-up Olympique de Marseille after completing a domestic double, have now won this trophy for the twelfth time in the past thirteen years.
